Austin Mini Cooper 'S' - 24PK – The ultimate rally 'Privateer'

24PK is a unique Austin Mini Cooper 'S' which competed as a 'works-prepared' privateer in a number of international rallies during those memorable 1960's when Alec Issigonis brainchild reined supreme. Purchased new in early 1963 by Sir Peter Moon – 24PK was 'indirectly' prepared by the BMC competitions department to international rally standard and over the next two years driven by a variety of now household names of rallying excellence – namely: Sir Peter Moon / Brian Culcheth / John Davenport / Terry Hunter / Mike Cotton / Tony Straker & Tony Henin.

This website is an attempt to consolidate the competition history of a unique car – together with recollections and anecdotes of her drivers and others associated with her. In my brief 3 years of ownership I have been constantly amazed by the willingness of those who both drove, worked on, or just had recollections of 24PK – to offer their time, reminiscences and if I was really lucky, photos and other memrobilia that enabled me to consolidate the following historical record.

Never complete – I remain constantly surprised as one contact leads to another – a COI programme turning up on e-bay – a prize photo of 24PK discovered by a French photographer on the '63 Alpine. So this website provides the opportunity for me to share the substance of my quest to date and which hopefully may lead to further revelations of this remarkable car.
